Here is a creative NEW Safari offered by Melanie Otto, the popular instructor who teaches you how to use your digital camera! It is a photo scavenger hunt in Old Town Alexandria where paired teams achieve specific photo goals assigned by Melanie, such as a double exposure that combines a face and a place, shoot something that shows shallow/deep depth of field, create images (series of 3 maybe) which shows subject, action, resulting in a story told in more than one frame, shoot one frame that shows a blur of subjects, shoot a frame that stops fast action, find something which leads you somewhere (doorway, path, sign), shoot a frame which shows a ghostly blur emerging from a “haunted” Alexandria townhouse, creative experiment with white balance settings, etc.
Each team then meets Melanie at a particular location to show the results and get their next goal. The purpose of the safari is to help you fully utilize all the F Stop/shutter speed/white balance/ISO setting features of your digital camera. The winning team—the folks who finish first—gets ice cream cones!
Sounds like Washington Photo Safari's version of the TV show "Survivor", right? Well, we decided to help you get AWAY from the TV set, OUT of the house to make your OWN fun, with your camera!
